Who should take Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider CPR Training?
Professional Designations
CPR-HCP/BLS and AED Skills is required for all: Firefighters, Paramedic, Nurses, Dentists/Dental Hygienists. Personal Supports Worker (PSW) is highly recommended as well.
Professional infant, child, and adult CPR and AED for healthcare workers including first responders. Includes use of oxygen, BVM (Bag-Valve-Mask), and may include oral airways for some groups.
This course is designed for people who are very likely, due to their occupations, to perform CPR on a fairly regular basis.
Understanding the Emergency Medical System and the role of a First Aider. First Aid definition and goals. Legal issues in rendering emergency care including the Good Samaritan Act.
Surveying the incident scene for hazards to protect the rescuer and others. Identifying life-threatening situations and providing urgent care. Looking for other injuries or problems while providing on-going care. Transferring the victim to more appropriate care and after incident procedures such as writing notes and making reports.
